A resource for adopting a child in the
Licking County, Ohio Probate Court

Useful Resources

A private adoption may qualify for a Non-Recurring Adoption Expense credit from the Licking County Department of Job and Family Services if the child to be adopted is a special needs child. Currently, a family may be reimbursed up to $2,000 for their adoption-related expenses, including court costs and attorney fees. The application for this credit MUST occur before the adoption has been finalized.

A private adoption may also qualify for a Post-Adoption Special Services Subsidy.  This subsidy is used to assist adoptive families with special needs that arise after an adoption. The eligibility and funding are determined annually by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and you must apply in the county of residence prior to the service being utilized.
